The "Accademia Filarmonica" of Casale Monferrato and Labirinto, thanks to the collaboration with BonelliLab, are pleased to present the personal exhibition The reversed universe by Corrado Bonomi (Novara, 1956) curated by Luigi Cerutti.
Two years after the last exhibition by Corrado Bonomi in Casale Monferrato at the Labirinto, the inverted universe becomes, for the selection of historical and unpublished works and for the double exhibition venue, a moment of solid and nodal reflection. The exhibition represents the second appointment for the Accademia Filarmonica's contemporary visual art program, after the personal exhibition by Mirco Marchelli Stato, Participio Passato. And for the Labyrinth, the eleventh paper exhibition of the new management for contemporary art since 2009, the year that saw the inauguration of the project with Corrado Bonomi with the Pizzini exhibition.
The inverted universe is not a double exhibition. It is rather a double exhibition through the formal filter of the paper. At the Labirinto there are only works on paper or related materials, thus remaining in the wake of the gallery project which exclusively displays works on paper or directly connected to the semantic area of lightness, lightness, as masterfully theorized by Italo Calvino in American lessons . The rest of the exhibition unfolds at the Accademia Filarmonica, with sculptural installation works. For many years I have devoted my reflections to the work of Corrado Bonomi, and for no reason in the world does it occur to me to stop. It is a laborious, tiring and highly fertile job to try to order the immense quantity of works and outcomes compared to Bonomi's fields of investigation and thought. I have never discarded anything of his work, precisely because in the vast myriad of formal and substantial attempts his cultural background and the desire to describe contemporaneity exist and resist, always and in any case. In this exhibition I have identified three specific moments that found and base, interfere in many of the reflections of the artist from Novara. These interferences are both in the choice of specific materials and objects and in the semantic areas, in the ghosts, which these materials evoke and bring back. In particular, these three places allow many of Bonomi's works from the 1980s to the present; from the work "Castelli in aria", to dreams, to work on the war. These are the toy soldiers and the space objects (first playful elements of childhood then switches for decisive reflections in his poetics), the packing boxes, the train. The inverted universe, thus, identifies and relates these three places of Bonomi's poetics, in order to lay the foundations, chronological and essential, for the understanding of its layout, its modus operandi, its reflections for us so much basic. The exhibition is made possible by the presence and contribution of BonelliLab, Canneto sull'Oglio gallery which has been actively collaborating with Corrado Bonomi for several years.
