Fonderie teatrali Limone - Moncalieri
by Edoardo Di Mauro
Works in the exhibition: Castelli in aria. Triceratopo riciclato (made with schools). In September 2001 we started a project with the aim of enriching the heritage of permanent works of our city over the years. After the extraordinary path that allowed the creation of an important collection of contemporary art started with the opening of the "Arduino" Civic Library, we aimed to combine urban space and art. "Moncalieri brings art", the project curated by the critic Edoardo Di Mauro, has thus allowed in recent years the realization of a process with multiple and important values underlining a new relationship, correct and qualitative, between art and territory.
Thanks to the contribution of the chosen artists, the central and peripheral territory has been enriched with some important sculptures and permanent installations. Several important goals have been achieved through this urban artistic furnishing operation. In the first place, the city becomes a place of life for art and works, immediately usable by all, become elements for cultural enrichment. At the same time, a significant enhancement of the territory is achieved, which is embellished with the artistic sign. On the one hand, therefore, an opportunity and cultural experience, on the other an overall redevelopment of a city already rich in architectural and environmental qualities. Moncalieri thus emerges as a true "door of art" with a selection of top-level authors.
The protagonist of this edition is Corrado Bonomi, one of the most appreciated and renowned artists of the contemporary art scene. His "Castles in the air" enter the foyer of the Fonderie Teatrali Limone with an installation that fits well into the rigorous and imposing space of a complex which in a short time has become a primary cultural center with a vocation for the artistic avant-garde. Corrado Bonomi will also activate some didactic workshops with local schools thus realizing one of our objectives: to stimulate the imagination and creativity of the students by showing them how a fantastic world can be achieved using recycled and recycled materials. Even young people will thus contribute to the realization of the installation which will remain in the hill in front of the Foundries. Another element of permanent artistic furniture is added, while contemporary art and urban fabric interpenetrate with interventions of redefinition of spaces and promotion of cultural experiences. For this we thank Corrado Bonomi and Edoardo Di Mauro.
